Nov. 6, 1924 – Jan. 18, 2005

Nilah G. BABER, 80, of 705 E. Fourth St., Rochester, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

Born on Nov. 6, 1924, in Pierceton, she was the daughter of Laurence and Georgia Bryant Edwards. On Sept. 6, 1944, in Macy, she married Ronald L. Baber. He survives. Mrs. Baber was a retired civil servant from Grissom Air Force Base. She was a 50-year member of the Macy Chapter 124 Order of the Eastern Star, who served as past matron, and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Rochester. She enjoyed snorkeling and shelling while living in Guam as well as extensive travel in the Far East and Europe. Her hobbies included reading, mushroom hunting and fishing.

Survivors include her husband Ronald L. Baber, Rochester; son, Rick L. Baber, Rochester; daughters, Bar-bara and husband, Edward Brown, Kokomo, and Carol and husband, Dave Damron, Rochester; grandchildren, Ron and wife, Cheryl Baber, Lafayette, Paul and wife, Dawn Baber, Virginia Beach, Va., Kyle and wife, Megan Damron, Somerset, Ky., and Seth Brown, Kokomo; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold and wife, Esther Edwards, Warsaw, and Kenneth D. Edwards, Grove-land, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Dessie Renfro and Garnet Allen.

Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Rick Taylor officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date at Plainview Cemetery, Macy. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
