MARBLEHEAD - John Q. Bledsoe, 80, of Marblehead, died Tuesday evening at his residence following several years of failing health.
He was born in Scott County, Va., the son of the late Quillen and Polly (Robinette) Bledsoe.
Mr. Bledsoe was employed at U.S. Gypsum, retiring in 1981.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion Sandusky Post No. 0083.
On June 1, 1974, he married Grace Matthews, and she survives along with a daughter, Margaret Simpson, Port Clinton; sons, Lonnie and Gary Bledsoe of Port Clinton and Paul Bledsoe, Sandusky; stepdaughters, Brenda Place, Wapakoneta; Linda Miller, Kingston; and Glenda Voss, Port Clinton; stepsons, Larry Mowel, Pittsburg, Texas, and Terry Mowel, Bowling Green; brother, Curtis Bledsoe of Virginia; sisters, Mary Danner of Virginia, Maude Lundy of Indiana, Nannie Bledsoe of Indiana, and Lula Doris of Kentucky; 26 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. His first wife, Elizabeth Faye Bledsoe, and brothers, Oscar and George Bledsoe, are deceased.
Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today at Neidecker-LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton St., Port Clinton, where the family will be in attendance 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in LaCarpe Cemetery in Erie Township where Port Clinton VFW Post 2480 will conduct military graveside services.
Memorials may be made to Stein Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
