Named at birth Adelaide Rosa Ferreira, she was the daughter of Manuel and Maria Ferreira.

A noted Portuguese cabaret singer, she aquired the artistic name of "Delly", to which she was known to her many friends and family. She gave up her promising career to marry Gustave Edmond Held, in Lisbon, Portugal. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Switzerland with her new husband and became a Swiss citizen. A couple years later, Gustave died and she found herself once again pursuing her singing career.

Delly sang in many European and North Africa cabarets, and while on an extended singing engagement in Ville of Rabat, Morroco, she met U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer John Joseph Sikirica. The couple married in September 1950 and once again she gave up her singing aspirations to become a full time wife and mother.

Perhaps her proudest day occurred on January 28, 1957 when she became a United States citizen, at the United States Districk Court, Providence, Rhode Island.

Left to cherish her memories, she was survived by her son Tony Ferreira Held and her daughter-in-law Patricia Strickland (Logan) Held of Sherman, Texas; her son John Philip Sikirica of Warwick, Rhode Island. Five grandchildren Janet M. (Held) Smith; Kevin D. Held; David A. Held; Donna L. (Held) Harrison; Tony F. Held Jr and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, all of Texas, also survived her.
She was laid to rest with John her husband of 47 years who preceded her death.

Rosary was recited by Reverend Antonio Aureus at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sherman, with Reverend Jeremy Myers, Pastor of the Parish officiating, assisted by Deacon John LeBlanc.

Reverend Robert Marciano, St Rosa of Lima Catholic Church, Warwick, Rhode Island, officiated at the burial site.
