"Russell R. Fargo,
The Elmira Gazette has a letter from Hammondsport saying that Mr. Fargo died at his home in Pulteney, April 20, aged ninety-one years. He was born in Benton, Yates county, and in 1845 he was elected the County Clerk in Yates county, and served the term of three years. For the last thirty years he had been a farmer in Pulteney, near Gibson's landing. He was a man of much intelligence and a zealous Republican. He was a life-long member of the Masonic fraternity, and his burial was at Penn Yan under the charge of the Order. Several years ago dry gangrene of several toes of one foot compelled their removal, and his death seemed near, but the vigor of his constitution prevented. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him.

Russell was the son of Calvin and Polly Woodworth Fargo [Src:Swann Vital Records Collection from the Yates County Genealogical and Historical Society in Penn Yan, New York.]
