Augusta Reagle became a Baha'i in 1908, as did her husband Charles. She was able to see Abdu'l-Baha during his travels to North America in 1912 and often told the story of how her daughter was embraced and held by him.

Gussie was the first Baha'i to move to Decatur and establish a permanent residence. This was in 1951. This prompted the Baha'is of Decatur to have "Baha'i Pioneer" engraved on the stone purchased by them in 2011.

Gussie is buried in the Snider family plot, Howard and Lucille Snider had moved to Decatur as Baha'i pioneers in the 1960's, followed by their daughter and her family. Howard later became a Knight of Baha'u'llah for Key West, and the death of Lucille left a space for Gussie many years later.
