Arthur Maurice Meek, former mayor of Eupora, died Monday at Webster General Hospital in Eupora. He was 83. A native of Goodman, he had lived In Eupora since 1927.
He was county chairman of the Democratic Executive Committee for many years. A veteran of World War I, he served as local commander of the American Legion. He was a retired merchant and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eupora.
Wise Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements which were conducted at First United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 19. Interment was in Eupora Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, Christine Buchanan Meek; his son, W.B. Meek of Eupora; two sisters, Edwina Mallory of Goodman and Gwendolyn Hammett of Lexington: three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
