Arriving in Vietnam, Paul was assigned to VMO-2, MAG-16, 1st Marine Air Wing.
Paul died when the aircraft UH-1 #152419 on which he was gunner crashed and burned as a result
of hostile fire .50 caliber and small arms fire hit the cockpit and cabin area, killing the pilot and fight surgeon, while on a tactical reconnaissance mission. The chopper went into a nosedive and exploded upon impact with the ground, 6 kilometers west northwest of Dong Ha Airfield.
Survived by his parents, Joseph J and Edith L Albano, his sister, Joan and his brothers, Robert, Michael and Joseph all of Ravena, New York.
