KATHRINA was baptized as "Catherine Listerman" at "St. James the Greater" church in Colerain Township, Hamilton County, OH (also called St. Jacob, which is German for James). The 1860 census of Hamilton County, OH lists her parents as both born in Prussia: Wm. Listerman (age 52) and Mary Ann (age 28); their 5 children, all born in Ohio: Mary Ann (11), Catherine (10), Hervey (7), Henry (5), Talitha (6) and Joseph (0). "Kate" married Wm. Hitzing II there in 1868. He died in 1872, and she remarried 28JAN1873 to Robert Odlow, who moved the family (by covered wagon) from Cincinnati to the southeast corner of the Dakota Territory. The 1880 U.S. Census taken there says Robert, a blacksmith, was born in Denmark. It also says he had two sons, Willy "Odlow", age 10, and Charly "Odlow", age 9. On November 2, 1889, South Dakota was granted statehood. On 24-Sep-1891, She and Robert Odlow purchased land there in Charles Mix County, SD (160 acres at SW quarter of section 15, township 98, north of range 68, west 5 pm).
The "Odlow" family then moved on to Pueblo County Colorado. That's where Robert Odlow died 11JAN1909, Katy died 5FEB1910 and Willy died six months later - all three died from typhoid fever. On 6SEP1910 Charley married Myrtle Fish in Charles Mix County South Dakota. Myrtle inherited Kate's family bible, in which she noted that " Willy Victor", was born 07MAR1871 (just 10 months before his father died on 24JAN1872). She noted that "Charley F." was born 12MAY1872 (3 1/2 months after his father's death). Attached are photos of those bible pages. After the wedding, Charly took his new mother-in-law, Mary Ann Baker Fish, to see her mother, Martha Baker Ingledue. Charly then took Myrtle back to Colorado where he sold his interest in the ranch. He and Myrtle moved back to South Dakota, then moved to Montana.
[NOTE: Records from St. Pilomena Catholic Church (est. 1846 at Pearl & 3rd Streets, near Ohio River in Cincinnati) list "Catharina Listerman" as mother of "Victor Wilhelm Hitzinger", baptized 7MAY1870, and "Friedrich Carl Hitzinger", baptized 12JUN 1871.]
