Anchorage Alaska resident Robert G. Baumgartner passed away at home on Thursday February 9, 2012.

Robert grew up in different parts of Alaska such as Barrow, McGrath, Fairbanks, Homer, Hoonah, Juneau, Dillingham and Anchorage. He received his baccalaureate degree in Psychology in 1991, and his MBA in 2001 from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

An accomplished and successful businessman, Robert was involved in a number of Social and Economic Development projects, and had a keen interest in spiritually-grounded and sustainable developments.

His love of music led him to play trumpet with the Anchorage Community Band for over a decade, and his great voice made him a favorite singer in many different gatherings. Robert also enjoyed flying planes, fishing, boating, camping, golfing and dancing.

Robert was a member of the Baha'i Faith. He was recognized as a compassionate and kind man who was always ready and willing to help those in need. He touched many lives, and was characterized by a loving manner, quiet humility, wise and candid counsel, and an infectious humor and laughter.

A dedicated husband and father, Robert is survived by his wife, children, mother, sister, brothers, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held on February 19 and March 19 to celebrate his life. Robert's burial ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday June 29th at the Angelus Memorial Cemetery in Anchorage. Published in adn.com from June 28 to June 29, 2012
