Homer G. Long, 93, of the Good Samaritan Center, died there at 1:50 a.m. July 21, 1985.
He was born March 7, 1892, in Wapello County to George and Mary Miller Long. He was a retired employee of John Morrell and Co. and a member of Davis Street Christian Church. He married Nellie Gee in 1915 at Ottumwa. She died in 1924. He married Linda Bohenstill on Aug. 17, 1928, at Collinsville, Ill. She died in 1975.
He is survived by a daughter, Lucille Canny of Ottumwa; two sons, Bud Long of Albuquerque, N.M. and Frank Long of California; a step-daughter, Ethel VanHorn of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Cecil Simonton officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be after noon Tuesday.
