Joseph Raul Kadlek, age 40, joined his sister Lecia and grandma Hofeldt in a long awaited reunion in Heaven on September 16, 2003.

Born December 27, 1962 to John Paul Valdez Jr. and Sally Kadleck in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Joe never tired of testing his abilities. Sometimes he failed but when he succeeded he did so masterfully. Joe was a very successful entrepreneur. He was the Governor's Entrepreneur of the Year in 1997-98. He opened his first ski store Ski & See in Sandy at the age of 24 years. Over the next 13 years, he opened five more stores throughout the valley and Park City. He retired at the age of 37.

Joe graduated from Jordan High School in 1980. He served an LDS Mission to London East. He married Tamara Beckstead on Valentine's Day 2000. Joe was a devoted son, brother, husband and father. He was his own person and lived his life as true to himself as possible.

He is survived by his wife Tamara, son Joseph Taylor, step-sons Niten and Tysen, his mother Sally, sisters Brigett Marie (Stewart) Hall and Cathy Renell (Kory) Gibb, brother Charles Robert Schollmeyer, in-laws Alan and Kathy Gardner, Brandon and Krista Beckstead, grandparents, 15 nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2003, 12:00 PM, Wasatch 9th Ward, 3625 Dover Hills Dr., Salt Lake City. Viewing on Friday, Sept. 19 from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy and one hour prior at the church. Interment at Taylorsville City Cemetery.
