He was a graduate of Richmond College and Union Theological Seminary. He spent most of his life at the Zambesi mission in Africa, but returned numerous times to Richmond. He was survived by a a cousin, Edwin F. Adams, of Arlington. Burial in Hollywood Cemetery.
