Mrs. Norma J. Diefenbach
Mrs. Norma J. Diefenbach, 72, of Carrier Mills, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 9, 2004.
She was born July 20, 1931, to Roy and Elma (Horton) Gulley. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Diefenbach, whom she married on Jan. 16, 1954.
She is survived by their children and grandchildren, which include four sons, Denver Diefenbach of Marion, Steve (Rita) Diefenbach, Eric (Anita) Diefenbach and David Diefenbach, all of Carrier Mills; and two daughters, Mary Owens of Harrisburg and Dr. Karen Diefenbach (fiance Dr. Kevin Trueblood of New Haven, Conn.) of Wilson, N.C. Their grandchildren include four grandsons and three granddaughters, Justin Thorpe of St. Louis, Mo., Jada Diefenbach of London, England, Jeddidiah Diefenbach of Harrisburg, Autumn Diefenbach, Sarah Diefenbach and Neil Diefenbach of Carrier Mills; and Joseph Owens of Harrisburg.
Also surviving are two brothers, Larry Gulley of Carrier Mills and Jerry (Tub) Gulley of Mitchellsville, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wendel and Denzel Gulley of Harrisburg and three sisters, Gertie McClusky, Noveta Clarke and Mildred Pate.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carrier Mills.
Services will be held at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2004, and the funeral at 1 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2004, with burial to follow at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills.
At the request of the family, the preferred choice of remembrance is memorials in her memory to the Salem Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 823, Carrier Mills, Ill. 62917. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
