Francis William Byrnes Lansing Passed away April 30, 2012 at the age of 85. He donated his body to advance the research of Parkinson's disease, with which he was afflicted for the last 12 years. His cremated remains will be buried at St Joseph Cemetery. As a lifelong Catholic he graduated from Resurrection High School. Francis entered the military in 1946 as a Chaplin's Assistant and later became a Payroll Specialist and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. After leaving the military, Francis worked for Babcocks Appliance as a repair man, then as sales representative for APCO and Servall. After retirement he volunteered with the Catholic Church for five years teaching English to Spanish speaking immigrants at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chicago. Francis was the son of Marie and William Byrnes. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Richard Byrnes, as well as sisters, Barbara Hanson and Dorothy Cwicig. Francis is survived by his sister, Betty (Fred) Tepesano, and brother, Ronald (Gloria) Byrnes; as well as sons, Patrick (Teresa) Byrnes and Kevin (Lisa) Byrnes; daughters, Susan (Norman) Snyder, Cecilia Byrnes and Eilleen Byrnes; and grandchildren, Amanda, Brian, Samantha, Kirsten, Candace, Cody, Colby and Corey. The family would like to thank the staff and administration of the Ingham County Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care they gave Francis during the past 6 years. Memorial service will be June 26th at 10:30am at Resurrection Church followed by a luncheon at the church hall.
