Joseph Raymond Pedrozo
January 24, 1927-May 13, 2012
Joseph Raymond Pedrozo, 85, passed away peacefully at home with his loving children by his side on May 13, 2012. He was born on January 24, 1927, in El Nido, California to Joseph A. Pedrozo and Maria Bettencourt Pedrozo.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Barbara Lee, his brother, Florian, and his parents, Joseph and Maria.
He leaves behind his children and their spouses, Joe(Diana), John(Kelly), Ted(Juanita), Judy Blackburn(Harry) all of Merced; Mary Dawidczik(Jim) of Sacramento; and Tim(Jill) of Orland. He is also survived by brother Ted,(Margaret), and his sister, Natalie Bruen of Merced; his sister, Mary Symanski of Stockton. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful dog, Henry.
Joe was raised in the Livingston Cressy area. His family moved to Healy Road in Merced in 1945 where they continued milking cows and farming. He met and married his one and only sweetheart, Barbara in 1954.
Joe, his brothers, and dad moved the dairy to Thrift Road and Joe eventually bought his dad and brothers out of the dairy business in 1970. It was on Thrift Road where Joe milked cows, farmed, and raised his six children. He retired from the dairy business in 1991, but continued to farm.
Joe will forever be remembered for his love of Fords, cows, Gene Autry, and being a democrat. He was very proud of his Catholic Faith and passed this strong faith onto his family.
A visitation will be held from 4:30-6:30 pm, Friday, May 18, followed by a Rosary at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Mercy Church on 21st and Canal street in Merced. A funeral Mass at 12:00pm, Saturday, May 19 will be celebrated. Interment to follow at Evergreen cemetery in Merced.
