Will Shingleton was born on 23 Aug 1867 in Jackson County, Illinois. He was the eldest child of James A. and Catherine HOUSE Shingleton. He was a coal miner.


He married Ellen Caroline "Callie" FAULKNER on Sep 11, 1892 in Jackson County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Gilbert and Angeline ARMSTRONG Faulkner. She was born 12 Dec 1860 and died 17 Nov 1901. She is buried in Crews-Central Cemetery, DeSoto Twp., Jackson, Illinois. They had two known children - Wyman and Angeline.

He married Okalona Isom on November 9, 1903 in DuQuoin, Illinois. Okalona was the daughter of Jasper and Agnes FORE Isom.


Will Shingleton died on 8 April 1917 in Schuline, Randolph County, Illinois. He was buried in an unmarked grave next to his sister-in-law, Etta FAULKNER Williams. Okalona moved back to Sesser, Illinois to live with her parents. Sadly, she died a short time later on 1 Nov 1918. They had five known children- Gertrude, Christina, Jasper, Louis, and Etta May.
