Born January 14, 1915 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. and Rose (Fritsch) Ganse. Edna attended Sacred Heart School and worked at several jobs before starting her family. She always enjoyed children and volunteered in the nurseries at several churches in the Lancaster area. She was known in the family as "the child whisperer." She continued sharing her love for children with several families by caring for their children on a regular basis. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and many other crafts. She was the glue that held her family together, and was a great historian of family history.
Edna was a life-long Catholic, Mrs. Duschl was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Lancaster, where she was active with the Guys and Dolls. She attended The Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida.
Edna is survived by her children; Joseph A. Duschl, III, of York and Rose Ann married to James L. Shillow, III, of Nokomis, Fl.; her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter; Catherine E. Copenhaver and her siblings.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial from St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603 on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11AM. Interment will be held in the St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, PA. There will be a viewing held at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church on Tuesday morning between 10AM and 11AM. Kindly omit flowers. Memorial Remembrances can be made in Edna's memory to Sacred Heart School, 235 Nevin Street, Lancaster, PA 17603.
