Listed in muster roll of Macon County Reserves on October 5, 1863, at Auburn. Designated as captain in John Darby's Company of Macon County Reserves in 1863. Included in roll of Captain Frazer's Company of Macon County Reserves on August 20, 1864. Described as having "blue eyes, light hair, fair complexion--farmer." His profession was noted in September 1864 as "Contractor, timber."

From 1872 to 1906, Glenn served as treasurer of the Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical College which was renamed Alabama Polytechnic Institute during his tenure and is modern Auburn University. The Glenn family is memorialized in town with a main route through Auburn, Glenn Avenue.
