Son of Thomas A Moore and Susan Elizabeth Mabry. Grandson of Col. Robert James Moore & Martha Jane Burleson, and John Mabry & Nancy Speir. He is descendant of at least four Revolutionary War veterans. He came to St. Louis from his home in Austin while working on the railroad and met Elsie while she was a waitress in a "tea shop". They were married in 1921. One son - Stanley. Givens worked as a Guard at the Federal Building in St. Louis. Due to his untimely death after being hit by a bus, he was buried at Mount Hope in Belleville, IL along with some other relatives of Elsie's - next to her brother Walter Haage.
