Bertha was the daughter of William and Alice Cutright WORTHINGTON. She came from a very large family. She had several siblings. The Worthington's came to Lake Oswego, OR. from Lawrence Co., Ohio. Bertha was a very good singer and stories were told of how her sisters and her would sing as they would do the dishes as her father would recline in his chair and just listen proudly to his daughters.
As Bertha grew up, she met Joseph Edward Bowers at an Ice Cream Shop, that she worked at in Portland, OR. He said when he first saw her, she was the one he was going to marry. It was love at first site! Bertha and Joseph are my grandparents, they both died before I was born, Joseph in 1957, Bertha in 1958, and their son Howard Edward Bowers, my Father, also died in 1959. Bertha loved to garden, where ever they lived, you knew it was there house by just looking at a picture, for she left a mark of her wonderful gardening. She also sang in church choirs. My only wish is that I could have know this most beautiful woman!
