Fern Helen Strycker
July 13, 1921-Nov. 29, 2004

ROCKFORD, Mich. Fern Helen Strycker, 83, 6955 Childsdale N.E. and formerly of Elkhart, died Friday at her residence.

She was born July 13, 1921, in Wakarusa, {Indiana} to Edward and Nellie (Kehr) Brenneman. She married DeVon Strycker Dec. 25, 1941, in Wakarusa. He died Nov. 25, 2002.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher for 40 years and a deaconess.

She is survived by two daughters, Mona (Louie) Konopka, Rockford, Mich., and Janice (Buddy) Gundy, Hattiesburg, Miss.; a son, Richard (Jan) Strycker, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Evelyn Geerts, Battle Creek, Mich.; a brother, Paul (Bev) Brenneman, Osceola; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Harold, George and Walter Brenneman; and two sisters, Hazel Metzler and Ethel Brenneman.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Elkhart.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Revs. Daniel Gelatt and David Hills officiating.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, Elkhart.
