Aunt Carrie was my grandmother's half-sister. She was first married 1906 and had her only child from that marriage; Albert Oscar Handbury was born in 1907, and he died at the age of 34.
She moved from Colorado in San Francisco in about 1912 and remarried twice while there. Her second husband, William Frank Dvorsky died less than 9 months after her son, at the age of 65. Her 3rd husband was John "Jack" B. Goodwin, who died six years prior to Aunt Carrie, and was the only husband that I knew.
She died at the age of 87 while living in a Menlo Park Extended Care Hospital, under the care of her niece, my aunt, Alice Elizabeth Black Priest.
As a young teenager, two or three times, I would visit Aunt Carrie in the big city of San Francisco. If I remember correctly I would go over by bus and Aunt Carrie would take me to Compton's for lunch. I have since learned that she also worked at Compton's. About once per year, Aunt Carrie and Uncle Jack would come over by bus and they would spend the day with us in Hayward.
I have posted on this memorial page the only known picture of Carrie, Albert Oscar Handbury, and Alice Black. This picture and the one of Aunt Carrie is posted out of the generosity of the grand children of Alice Black Priest.
