Rose Anna Shultz died at her home in New Rumley, July 23, 1916, aged 82 years 3 months and 4 days. Her entire life was spent in and around New Rumley. She was united in marriage to George W. Shultz November 7, 1854. This union was blessed with four children, three sons and one daughter: Arthur L., who resides in Verona PA, John W. of Canton, George S. of Scio and Mary J. who resides in the old home and cared for her aged mother during her long affliction. The deceased is survived by her four children, twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren and six sisters, one sister and one brother Dr. G.W. Lyle having preceded her to the spirit land.

At the age of seventeen she was converted and united with the church of the United Brethren in Christ. For more than three score years she remained a faithful member of the church. Amid the toils and cares of life she was sustained and blessed of God, who knoweth those who trust Him. From 1862 to 1865 while father was doing service for his country she was at home caring for the little ones and was as true a soldier as those that wore the blue. In her long affliction she was patient only awaiting the Master's call “It is enough, come up higher.” She was anxious to go home. Her life is spent, her race is run. Let us cherish her sweet memory and emulate her goodness and virtues. The home is so lonely since mother is gone, but we trust our loss is her eternal gain. Farewell dearest mother.

Her children wish to thank her friends and neighbors for their kind assistance during the affliction and death of their mother.
