JOHN PAUL ADAMS, longtime resident of Comanche, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away on Friday evening, March 2, 2012, at his home north of Comanche. He was 80 years old. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 6 at 11 a.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home. Visitation will be Monday, 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
John was born Sept. 15, 1931, at Lynn, Ark., to William W. and Arlie Zoe (Sackett) Adams. He was a graduate of Lynn High School and Arkansas State University. In high school, he played baseball and basketball. John and Marilyn Kelley were united in marriage on Jan. 10, 1956, at Jackson, Miss. They came to this area in 1970 to make their home. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and also AMVETS. John enjoyed riding, raising and training horses; hunting; fishing; and all sports.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of the home; four daughters, Barbara Adams, Edmond, Okla., Ann Cranford and husband Jim, Chandler, Okla., Deborah Ledbetter and husband Phil, Willow Park, Texas, and Diane Alderson and husband Mark, Baker City, Ore.; and two brothers, Dale Adams of Arkansas, and H.L. (Dusty) Adams of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Paul Adams Jr. (FAG #41031992); a grandson, John Martin Jones; and a brother, Lloyd C. Adams.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Meridian Volunteer Fire Department.
