South Bend, IN -- Jacob A. Quiggle , 76, residing on Louise Lane, South Bend, went home to be with his Lord at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2005, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jacob was born on August 11, 1928, in South Bend, to the late Harold and Ethel Quiggle . He had remained a lifelong area resident.

On September 16, 1950, in South Bend, he married the former Betty Colley. Along with his wife of 55 years, Betty, survivors include one son, Rick Quiggle of South Bend; two daughters, Danita (Samuel) Heiter of South Bend and Sandra (Dale) Ernsperger of South Bend; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jack Quiggle of Buchanan, MI.

Jacob retired as a foreman from Torrington Corporation after over 30 years of employment. He was a member of the Deer Run Church of Christ, South Bend. Jacob enjoyed bowling and was a longtime member of the Golden Gang Bowling League at Chippewa Bowl. He served his country during the Korean War with the United States Army.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Rev. David Honeycutt, pastor of Deer Run Church of Christ, will officiate. Military graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31st, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel.
