Francis Runyon, who since in March had presided on Vern Humphreys farm died Saturday evening and Monday the remains, accompanied by the bereaved widow, a daughter and two sons were taken to Pittsburg, deceased's old home, for interment. Mr. Runyon made many friends in this community by his honorable ways. He was a kind hearted and good man.
Deceased was born in Illinois September 15, 1849. Moved to Missouri about 1875 and met Miss Ellen Guy of Rich Hill, a half sister of J. A. Self of near Farlinville and Aunt of Mrs. Elmer Wilcox of Battlefield district. June 29, 1878, to this lady he was united in the holy bonds of wedlock. To this union fifteen children were born, nine as follows surviving their father: William of Arma, Crawford County; James of Pleasanton; Ira of Mulberry, Crawford County; Ivan of Franklin, Crawford County; John of Edler, Colo; Edward of Powell, Wyom; Mrs. Martha Brown of Stunton, Idaho; Mrs. Ethel Megowne (actual spelling Mignone) of Girard; Miss Isabelle and Omer of this place.
Deceased was 73 years of age. Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon at the church where deceased worshipped for many years after which all that was mortal was tenderly laid to rest in the Pittsburg Cemetery by the side of loved ones who preceded him. The Herald unites with other friends in extending sympathy to the sorrowing widow and children for the loss of one so dear to them.
