Child Burned to Death
Yesterday afternoon the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Dumler, Jr. was burned to death at their home on the Schoonmaker place southwest of town. Her parents had gone a short distance from the house to plant cucumbers. After an absence of a few minutes they heard the child scream. They hurried to the house but the little girl had ran out a rod or two and fell down. Her clothes were practically burned off and but for the lower portion of her limbs, scarcely any part of her body was unscorched. Dr. Steward was called but just as he was in sight she died. Just how the trouble started is hard to determine. The younger children say that she did something to the fire and was going to make candy. At any rate she became saturated with coal oil and it got on fire. She was about seven or eight years old. Her death was a terrible one and her parents have the sympathy of the entire community.
