Funeral services for Richard Keith McDaniel, Sr., 69, of Mesquite, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Rev. H. Edward Ricks officiating. Interment will follow at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. in Dallas.

He passed away early Monday morning, November 14, 2011, in Mesquite.

Richard Keith was born March 19, 1942, in Webster, West Virginia, the son of Albert Floyd McDaniel and Elizabeth Ann Grogan McDaniel. He was raised in Morgantown & Clarksburg, West Virginia. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during Vietnam. In 1962, he married Peggy Sue White Collins. She preceded him in death in 1965. Richard was a minister for March Avenue Baptist Church in San Antonio, Bethel Baptist Church in Seagoville and New Beginnings Baptist Church in Mesquite/Seagoville, retiring in January 2003. He lived in Seagoville prior to moving to Mesquite in 1999. Richard enjoyed refereeing football, listening to sports and talk radio. He later married Dawn Moffett Simon on November 5, 2011. He was known for playing pranks on his family and friends. He was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church near Royse City.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Peggy Sue McDaniel on November 11, 1965; two brothers and two sisters.

Richard is survived by his wife, Dawn Simon-McDaniel, of Mesquite; son, Richard K. McDaniel, Jr., & wife, Sheila, of Seagoville; daughter, Jennie Sue McCoy, of Seagoville; three step-daughters, Autumn McMillan, of Saginaw, Mandie Wherley & husband, Clifford, of Red Oak and Holli Manor, of Mesquite; sixteen grandchildren, Richard K. McDaniel, III, Christopher W. McDaniel & wife, Regina, David Allen McCoy, Jr., Michael Adam McCoy, Alicia D. McDaniel, Jonathon C. McCoy, Andrew J. McCoy, Margaret A. McCoy, Clayton K. Wherley, Kylie A. McMillan, Sammy L. McMillan, Peyton L. Manor, Lainee R. Manor, Bobby D. Manor, Jacob K. Wherley and Harrison P. Wherley; one great-grandson, Christopher W. McDaniel, Jr.; brother, Derrel McMahan, of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews.
