Darlene F. Abbott, 68, of Toddville passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Berlin Nursing Home.

She was born in Bishops Head on April 2, 1943 and was a daughter of the late Franklin E. and Rhoda Pritchett Wheatley.

Mrs. Abbott attended schools in South Dorchester.

On November 28, 1987 she married John Mace Abbott, Sr. He passed away on July 5, 2010. She worked for Airpax for 25 years. She enjoyed fishing.

She is survived by a daughter Raye Abbott of Toddville, a sister Linda Powley and husband Bubby of Golden Hill, two grandchildren, a great grandson and a special nephew Tommie Powley of Church Creek.

Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Abbott is preceded in death by a sister Jean Todd.

Pallbearers will be Tommie Powley, Bubby Powley, Charles Hayward, Chucky Hayward, Jan Finch and Mark Holotik.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lakes & Straits Volunteer Fire Company, 2103 Farm Creek Road, Wingate, MD 21675 or to St. Thomas United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Phyllis Mills, 1817 Crocheron Rd., Bishops Head, MD 21672.
