Ogden, Utah - Lois Olds Iverson, 89, was reunited with her boys, Rudy, Norm and Paul, on January 22, 2012. Lois was born July 21, 1922 in Toquerville, Utah to Arthur and Lottie Dodge Olds. She was the second of eight children. Lois grew up in Toquerville and graduated from Hurricane High School in 1940. She then went to LDS Business College majoring in accounting.

Lois met Rudy Iverson while working at Bryce Canyon. They fell in love and were married in September 1942. Their union was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on June 16, 1965. Their marriage of 61 years was blessed with three children, nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren

Lois was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her service in the Church included MIA President, Primary President and Relief Society Teacher. Lois and Rudy also served an 18 month Stake Mission.

In 1961, Lois began working at Dixie College as President's Bruhn's Administrative Secretary. A year later, Rudy joined the Dixie College team. In 1963, Lois and Rudy moved their family into the Shiloh dormitory on the new campus (along with the scorpions, tarantulas, dirt, open trenches and mud) where they watched over and counseled 96 students. Later they were co-advisors for the rodeo team and student body officers, and traveled all over the West with the students. As Lois and Rudy immersed themselves in campus life, they soon recognized the value of investing in students. Lois was instrumental in securing numerous contributions and significant endowments for scholarships that directly support students. All of this was accomplished while she devoted forty-five years as an accountant. She maintained many of her clients until the time of her death.

Over the years, Lois served with the Dixie College Women's Association, the Alumni Association, and the Golden Generation Committee. She was the Chairperson of the Dixie College President Portrait project. She received the Business and Professional Women of Achievement Award in 1984 and the Hurricane High School Extra Mile Award. Lois served on the Washington City Historical Society and received the 1996 Heritage Award from the Utah Heritage Foundation. Together she and Rudy worked to restore the Washington City Relief Society Building and The Washington Historical Building. In 1972 Lois served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention and was the first County Chairwoman of the Washington County Republican Committee. That same year she traveled to the National Convention in Miami, Florida as a delegate.

Lois was appointed a member of the SUU Board of Trustees by Governor Bangerter where she served for eight years - four years as vice-chair. In 1993 she received the SUU Distinguished Service Award and in 1996 she received the Medallion of SUU Honors.

Through all her accomplishments, Lois's greatest joy came from spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She cherished the time she and Rudy spent at the farm in New Harmony with their family.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Suzi (Dewey) Nicholson, nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Clark Olds, Wayne Olds, Lloyd (Myrna) Olds and Clayton (Sue) Olds and her sisters Valene Norton and Patricia (Burdell) Henrie. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rudy, her sons, Norman Rulon and Paul Junior, her parents, and her sister Thelma Scholzen.

Lois was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed, but she leaves behind a great legacy of love, strength and service.

Contributions can be made to the Dixie State College Golden Generation Scholarship Endowment. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. George LDS 6th Ward Chapel, 85 South 400 East, St. George, Utah. Interment will follow at the New Harmony Cemetery, New Harmony, Utah. Arrangements are entrusted to Metcalf Mortuary
