Ann Arp (nee Bassette), age 85, passed away at the Joliet Hospice on Friday, March 6, 2009 after years of being ill; she is now home.


Born March 24, 1923, in Kemper Co, MS to Ned and Luberta Bassette. Ann was the youngest and the only girl of their four children. Ann's brothers are Earnest, George, and Johnny Bassette. Ned and Luberta moved from Kemper Co, MS to Chicago, IL leaving Ann and her brothers with their maternal grandmother, Kisialah Clemnons, to care for them. She was a graduate of DuSable High School in Chicago. Ann was a member of the Baha'i Faith. Ann enjoyed working with her daughter for many years for an insurance company.


Survived by her children, John Arp and Kim Corcoran; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.


Preceded in death by her husband, Jim Polley, her parents and her son, Albert Hayes Jr.


The family would like to thank the staff from Elmhurst Hospital, Loyola Hospital, Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, and the Joliet Hospice. Special thanks to Dr. Jay Mohindra, Dr. Tunji Alausa, Dr. Shaffi, Dr. Lelis, and Dr. Caneva for having such tender loving care for her, and to all her friends who helped through this most difficult time (there are too many to name).


Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 from 9-10am with a service to follow. Interment at Elmhurst Cemetery.
