MR ALFORD DIED LAST NIGHT—SLAYER AT LARGE
FUNERAL THIS MORNING

Conducted from the First Baptist Church, of Which the Deceased Was Senior Deacon—Dr. Tyree, Pastor, Will Officiate— Bynum Aided by Relative to Escape—Telegrams Sent in Effort to Apprehend.

J.H. Alford, who was shot by his partner, R.D. Bynum, in Raleigh Thursday, died at Rex Hospital in that city Thursday night. The extreme age of the wounded man and copious flow of blood made it impossible for him to rally. He was put on the operating table and the work was completed in a little over one hour, but the shock was too great for him and he sank rapidly....

FUNERAL OF MR. ALFORD

The funeral of Mr. Alford will take place this morning at 10:30 o'clock, from the First Baptist church, of which church the deceased was the senior deacon.

Dr. Tyree, the pastor, will officiate at the church, and the deceased will be given Masonic burial....
