Charlotte Rebecca Cook was born January 15, 1939 at Hamill, South Dakota to Simon Thunder, Sr and Gladys Eagle Star Thunder. She died Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Gregory Community Hospital in Gregory, South Dakota at the age of 72 years.
Charlotte family moved to Ideal, South Dakota where she spent her entire life. She attended grade school in Ideal and then attended the Rosebud Boarding School in Mission, South Dakota until the 10th grade. She then met and married Wilmer Long Crow on April 6, 1955 in Ideal, South Dakota. To this union six children were born.
After the untimely death of Wilmer, she met and later married Drury Cook, Sr on June 26, 1967 and to this union four children were born,
After the death of her second husband, Charlotte began her career with the Rosebud CHR Program. She started in 1980 and worked for twenty-six years, retiring in 2006 due to health reasons.
She then devoted the rest of her life to the Episcopal Church, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren until her passing.
Charlotte is survived by her sons: Larry, Wayne and Charlie Long Crow and Harold Cook all of Ideal, SD; her daughters: Leona Long Crow-Foote, Blossom Cook and Tammy Cook-Foote all of Ideal; her brothers: Harry Thunder of Sioux Falls, SD; Clement Thunder of Ideal, SD.
Sisters: Edna Denoyer of Sioux Falls, SD and Carla Renish of Sioux Falls, SD.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Rita, Delores and Amelia; her brothers: Simon Jr, Eddie and Harry's twin, Larry; her sons: Lowell and Mark Long Crow and Richard Cook.
Charlotte will be greatly missed by her siblings, her children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and by the entire Ideal community.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Ideal Guild Hall in Ideal. Burial will be in the Holy Spirit Cemetery, Ideal. There will be a wake service on Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 PM at the Hall.
