The daughter of Confederate veteran William Henry McClelland and Hattie Cone McClelland, Alice E. McClelland Butler was born on December 22, 1872 (or perhaps 1871) in Ivanhoe (Briar Patch), Bulloch County, Georgia. She had four sisters and one brother. She married John H. Butler, and they became the parents of Onie Bell Butler Cook. Alice died on July 25, 1942 in Effingham County, Georgia.
