'Lafe' Shadley was a Deputy United States Marshal who was killed in the shootout between marshals and the infamous Doolin-Dalton gang of outlaws at Ingalls, Oklahoma Territory. Two of his fellow marshals, Tom Hueston and Dick Speed were also killed in the gun battle. Deputy Marshal Shadley is memorialized at Panel 11, E-7 on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.
