Maxine Masters, 84, of Newburgh, Ind. and a former resident of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1927, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Roy and Bertha (Wheeler) Woodall.

She married Marvin Masters, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1995.

Mrs. Masters worked for many years at the Jefferson County Tax Assesors Office, and also at Montgomery Ward.

Mrs. Masters is survived by two sons, Ed Masters and wife Lavonne of Evansville, Ind. and Brad Masters and wife Janice of Saraland, Ala.; three grandchildren, Andrea Werner and husband Mike of Evansville, Ind., Kristen Masters of Evansville, Ind., and Gina (Masters) Floyd and husband Mike of Newburgh, Ind.; and one great-grandson, Logan Werner.

Mrs. Masters was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Johnston Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
