Frances L. Crumbaugh, 82

BOSWELL -- Frances L. Crumbaugh, 82, of 102 S. Dana St., died at 11:07 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.

Born Aug. 5, 1923, in Boswell, she was the daughter of the late Charles "Zeke" and Dessie Jane Fay Walters. She lived in Boswell all of her life and was a 1942 graduate of Boswell High School. She also graduated from Lafayette School of Practical Nurses in 1969.

She married Albert Crumbaugh on Nov. 15, 1942, in Boswell. He died March 20, 1966. Her second marriage was to Arvel Crumbaugh on Nov. 22, 1975, in Boswell, and he died Aug. 26, 1980.

Mrs. Crumbaugh had worked at David Economy Grocery Store, cleaned homes and was a nurse's aide. She also had worked at Home Hospital for five years and was assistant director of nurses at Edgewood Nursing Home in Oxford and worked for several years answering the telephone for Yuill-Shoemaker Funeral Home, Boswell. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and cross stitching and was an avid baseball fan.

She was a member of Boswell Church of Christ

Surviving are a son, Wayne Crumbaugh (wife: Judy) of Templeton; a daughter, Jane Smith (husband: Gary) of Boswell; a sister, Dorette Morehouse (husband: Alpha) of Muscatine, Iowa; and two brothers, Charles Walters (wife: Pat) of Lima, Ohio, and Robert Walters (wife: Georgia) of Anderson.

Visitation 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at Yuill-Shoemaker Funeral Home, Boswell. Service there at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2006, John Morris officiating. Interment Boswell Cemetery. Surviving are 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a surrogate grandmother to several children. Memorials: Boswell Church of Christ or Benton County Cancer Association.
