Star Lynn Tarasen, 59, of Minot, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, in a Minot hospital.

Star Lynn Kjos was born Sept. 15, 1952, in Minot, to Martin and Dorothy (Hofer) Kjos. She was the youngest of nine children. She was raised in Sherwood and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1970. She then attended the Bottineau School of Forestry in Bottineau.

Star married Gary Tarasen July 14, 1974, in Fargo. They made their home in Fargo until 1980, when they moved to Williston. They lived in Williston for one year and moved to Minot where they raised their family.

Star was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. With the age of the Internet, she enjoyed browsing, online shopping, chatting on Facebook and emailing her family and friends. She also enjoyed taking pictures, writing poems, reading prayer books and doing home repair projects. In addition, she had a healthy sense of humor.

Those who shared in her life:, loving husband, Gary, Minot; children, Dustin (Mandi) Tarasen, Thad (fiancee, Kelsey Lonning) Tarasen, all of Minot, and Breezy (Brandon) Schmidt, Grand Forks; grandchildren, Alyssa, Cole, Caleb, Mikazia and Catriese; sisters, Eleanor Harris, Westland, Mich., and Marilyn Bristol, Garland, Texas; brothers, Robert Kjos and Monte (Nola) Kjos, all of Fargo, and Terry Kjos, Garland, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Star was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Dorothy; brothers, Don, Edward and Mark Kjos; sister-in-law, Mavis Kjos; and nephew, Bobby Kjos Jr.

Funeral: Monday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
