Wife of Peter Thomas and mother of his 8 children.

Magdalena whose maiden name was Warner was of Germanic "Pennsylvania Dutch" heritage. Her family resided in Adams County near Littlestown not far from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

Lena as she was nicknamed was a late-in-life last child of Jacob Warner, a Revolutionary War Veteran, from Adams County (originally York County) and his wife Magdalena. Lena's next in age older brother Joseph Warner became the namesake for one of Lena and Peter's sons, Joseph Thomas. Lena's maiden name Warner became the given name of another of Lena and Peter's sons, Warner Thomas. Sons Joseph, Warner, and Isaac Thomas would all fight for the Union Army in the Civil War.

Magdalena "Lena" met her husband Peter Thomas in the market town of Gettysburg. In their early marriage they lived in Franklin Township, Adams County, where Peter's family owned property. She came to Bedford/Fulton County (Big Cove Tannery), in 1826, with husband Peter and their first five children and remained there for the rest of their lives. Of her eight children, with Peter, six have memorials on Find a Grave including boy-girl twins Isaac and Savannah. Missing are eldest daughter Sarah (Thomas) Crooks who with her husband William Crooks moved to Ohio where she died young. Her husband then turned over their son William Thomas Crooks (1838-1910) to the care of Lena and her husband Peter and they raised their grandson to maturity. This is further substantiated by the Census of 1850. Lena and Peter's youngest son John Franklin Thomas (1829-1862) died during the Civil War. Two of Lena's children both Hannah (Thomas) Himes and Isaac Thomas each named one of their sons after John Franklin in homage to their youngest brother who perished so young.

Lena and her husband Peter were married for 60 years before she became his widow.
Fulton County burial records state, "Mrs. Peter Thomas was in her 88th year and died at her home in Ayr Township, Fulton County, Pennsylvania on Thursday February 14, 1878."
