My grandfather was the only child of Edward Joseph Petch and Sarah Ann Tovey-Petch-Minnick. Edward passed away in about 1899 or 1900. As best as I can recall it was due to a mine accident or coal mine related illness. My great grandfather was originally from Wales.
My grandparents had 6 children, Roy, Jr, my mother Erma Amanda, William Turner, George Franklin, Edward Petch and Sandra and 20 grandchildren.
My grandfather worked for the Reading Railroad in the accounting office. I remember him getting dressed in a suit every day and how he took such great pride in his appearance. His guilty pleasure was smoking a cigar and to this day I can't help but think of him when I smell cigar smoke. He was also loved to fish and would spend weekends at my parents home in Ocean City, New Jersey either surf fishing or fishing off of the 9th street bridge.
The last two years of my grandfathers life was spent living with my parents.
