Roy E. Keefer, 85, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday July 25, 2011 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Jim Binix, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born on December 4, 1925, in Ballinger, Texas and married Virginia Blackwell Garrett on October 7, 1989 in Big Spring. She preceded him in death on January 27, 2000.

Roy worked in the oilfield as a toolpusher.

He served as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II.

Roy was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and enjoyed visits from his friends at Midway Baptist Church.

He volunteered for several years with the Disabled American Veterans and the VA Medical Center.

Survivors include one daughter, Sue Prichard; one son, Donald Roy Keefer; one step daughter, Neeli Anderson and husband, Jerry; one step son, Jerry Garrett; one brother, Claude "Red" Keefer; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Judy Cavender and Carol Arnold; his parents, Lemuel Daniel and Mae Keefer; four brothers, L. D. Keefer, Robert Keefer, Levi Keefer and Jim Keefer and his beloved sister-in-law, Esta Jewel Keefer.
