Grady Hill Gaston was born on the 29th of July 1890 in Gainesville, Georgia. His parents were Judge James B. Gaston and Janie Bentley Gaston. Grady attended Staunton Military Academy Staunton, Virginia and graduated Class of 1915 from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.

Around 1916, Grady moved to Dallas, Texas, where he lived the next 57 years. There he met & married Livia Lorena Smith. This union produced three beautiful daughters: Jean, Virginia and Livia. Also, a daughter was born 1929, but died shortly after birth.

Grady Hill Gaston died in Dallas on January 29th 1972. He is buried in Restland Memorial Park beside his beloved wife, Livia.
