Sgt. US Air Force
October 24, 1943 - November 16, 2009

David Plichta passed away on November 16, 2009, from complications from Alzheimer's at the age of 66.

Mr. Plichta was born on October 24, 1943, to the late Walter and Lillian Plichta of Baltimore, Maryland. In 1961 he joined the Air Force, proudly served for 20 years, and retired as a SMSgt. During his Air Force career, he met and married his wife Maxine in Watertown, New York. They raised five children together while being assigned to various bases in the United States and overseas.

Upon retirement, the family moved to Rancho Cordova and Mr. Plichta worked at McClellan AFB until its closure. In 2002 he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and retired. He was a lifelong Orioles fan and loved coin collecting, history, traveling, and being with his family.

Mr. Plichta is survived by his wife of 44 years, Maxine, and their five adult children. His family also includes his two sisters - Cecile Stafford and Mary V. Rich of Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas in 1978.

A private military service, being arranged by the Chapel of the Valley in Citrus Heights, will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Love and Divine Home Care in Folsom, and Sutter Roseville VNA and Hospice for the care and comfort they provided David during the final stages of his illness. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Sutter Roseville Hospice.
