South Lee Woman is Survived by Husband and Son--Funeral Friday
Lee, Nov. 9--Mrs. Wellington T. Thompson, 82, died last night at her home in South Lee of a complication of diseases. She was born in Tyringham, September 21, 1844, a daughter of John and Caroline (Garfield) Northrup. She received her education in the Tyringham public schools and at the Claverack, N.Y., Seminary for Girls. She married Wellington T. Thompson December 17, 1879. After their marriage they resided for some years in Tyringham and later in South Lee.
She is survived by her husband, one son, Clayton of Cleveland, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Tyringham M.E. church and also attended the Chapel of the Good Shepherd in South Lee. She was a personal friend of the late President James Garfield.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2.30 from the Tyringham Union chapel, Rev. Henry Wilds Smith of Lee officiating, preceded by prayer from the house at 1.30 with Rev. E. R. Lane, Jr., rector of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd and of St. Paul's Church, Stockbridge, in charge. Burial will be in Tyringham cemetery.
