Jane L. Canon
LEE -- Miss Jane L. Canon, 59, of Cemetery Road, Copake Falls, N.Y., formerly of Lee, died at the Barnwell Nursing home in Valatie, N.Y., Thursday after a long illness.

She was born in Pittsfield July 11, 1926, daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth Clarke Canon. She spent most of her life in Lee. She graduated from Lee High School in 1945 and from Anderson College in Anderson, S.C., in 1947.

After graduation, she returned to Lee and worked at the Austen Riggs Foundation in Stockbridge. Then she worked for the First Agricultural National Bank in Pittsfield and for the Hurlburt Paper Co. in South Lee. In 1958 she and later as an accountant for Edward Kinsley. Since 1978, she was self-employed as an accountant and bookkeeper.

She leaves a brother, Clifford E. Lippencott of Montpelier, Vt., a sister, Mrs. Catharine L. Clark of Copake Falls, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 at the Church of St. John in the Wilderness, Copake Falls. The Rev. John R.B. Byers Jr., rector, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the Tyringham Cemetery.

The Kelly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
