Carolyn G. Canon, 88, Tyringham historian
LEE--Carolyn G. Canon, 88, of Main Road, Tyringham, died Friday at home.

Born in Tyringham on May 27, 1911, daughter of Clifford R. and Abigail D. Garfield Canon, she was a graduate of Lee High School and Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield.

After high school, Ms. Canon worked on her family farm in Tyringham. In 1956, she became employed by First Agricultural National Bank in Pittsfield, retiring in 1965. She was also a housekeeper for many families in Tyringham for many years. She was an active member of Union Church in Tyringham. A longtime Tyringham historian, she was also a member of the Hop Brook Community Club and enjoyed bird watching and gardening.

She leaves a brother, Wallace Garfield Canon of Lee and Fort Myers, Fla.

FUNERAL NOTICE--Ms. Carolyn G. Canon is also survived by two nieces, Jennifer A Storti of Great Barrington and Christine Craighead of Ferrisburgh, Vt.; three nephews, John G. Canon of Clackamas, Ore., Jeffrey G. Canon of Wappinger Falls, N.Y., and Mark Canon of Atlanta, Ga.; and two longtime friends, Maryanne and Everett Fennelly of Tyringham. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 at Tyringham Union Church, with the Rev. Paul D'Angona, former pastor of the church, officiating. Interment of the Ashes will follow in the Tyringham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Hop Brook Community Club in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee.
