Son of Halsey Arnold & Pamelia Elizabeth Cotton. His parents married 29 Dec 1825, recorded in the Franklin County Courthouse Meadville, Ms.

His father Halsey Arnold died 1834/5 & his mother remarried Martin Whittington on 28 Mar 1835, recorded in the Franklin County Courthouse Meadville, Ms.

He married Mary Adaline Dixon 26 May 1854 in Amite County, Ms.

Family oral history states he left his wife and remained in Jefferson County, Ms. with his son Thomas B. Arnold, Jr.

- 23 years old living with his step father Martin Whittington and mother Pamelia Elizabeth Cotten Arnold Whittington; also living with his brother Aaron H. Arnold

- lines 514/528 age 53 spouse Mary A. age 41, and 9 children
