LEVI DANNER FOUND DEAD

Retired Grocer Dies in Work Shop Following a Heart Attack

Mr. Levi Danner, retired grocer, was found dead in his work shop at 6:30 o'clock yesterday evening by his sister, Miss Nancy Danner. He had suffered with heart trouble during the last ten years but had complained of ill health only two weeks.

He was last seen alive at 4:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon by Mr. John Spicer, drayman, who spoke to him as he passed the house. Mr. Danner's workshop is located at the rear of his residence, 309 South Walnut Street, where he had been engaged in doing some repair work during the afternoon. He was thought to have reached to pick up something from the ground when he was attacked with heart trouble.

Mr. Danner was a son of the late Samuel and Emiline Lanham Danner, born in Milton Township and would have been 76 years of age within a few days. He lived on a farm in his early life but came to Madison thirty-one years ago. He first entered the feed store business on Jefferson Street where he remainded for five years. For many years he operated a grocery in the building now occupied by the John M. Sample feed store and after leaving that building, he operated a grocery in the Richert building on East Main Street for two years. Since that time he had been on the retired list.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of this city for 52 years and commanded the respect of a wide circle of friends. He was a successful business man and was well known and well liked. Mr. Danner was never married.

Surviving are four brothers, Scott and Hannibal of this city, Charles of Pleasant Ridge and Samuel of New Albany, besides his sister, Miss Nancy Danner and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at the residence, 309 Walnut Street, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of the Rev. C. C. Smith. Interment will be in the Springdale Cemetery. Friends invited.
