Clarence Gettel passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge, Minnesota.

Clarence Benedict Gettel, was born March 30, 1919 on a farm south of Geneseo, North Dakota, the third son born to John and Josephine (Illies) Gettel. He served in the European Theater towards the end of World War II, in the 95th Division, and was decorated with a Bronze Star. Returning home in 1946, he married Theresa Nash. To this union three children were born. Clarence and Theresa ran a family farm operation south of Lidgerwood, North Dakota. They moved to Lidgerwood in 1976. Theresa died in 1984. Clarence continued to live in Lidgerwood up until the time of his death.

Clarence enjoyed traveling to military reunions, fishing, gardening, canning, and Miller High Life, the Champagne of Beers.

He is survived by two daughters, two grandchildren, two brothers, and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his son Robert, two brothers, Ervin and Elmer, and an infant sister, Antonia.
