Long time resident of McMinnville, Frank Arthur Hefington, passed away on Friday April 29, 2011.
He and his wife Norma lived in their McMinnville home until Frank experienced a stroke in August of 2010. They moved from their home to McMinnville's Hillside Retirement Community. Frank and Norma came to McMinnville in 1968 from Manhattan Beach, California. He was a Captain on the fire department for the City of Manhattan Beach. When they moved to McMinnville, Frank worked as Service Manager for Larsen Motors and retired in 1982. He then worked in the Pro Shop at Michelbook Country Club for another 19 years. Frank spent time in the Navy during World War II as a 'fire-fighting' Instructor. Frank's hobbies were ballroom dancing, golf, landscaping and cooking. He used his cooking skills for many years at McMinnville's Nazarene Church on the Hill where he cooked breakfast for a group of Senior Adults each month.
Frank is survived by his wife of 72 years, Norma. He is also survived by two children, Diane Landgraf (Bill) of McMinnville and Richard Hefington (Janet) of Redondo Beach, California. Frank has one granddaughter, Lori Wright (Doug) of Madill, Oklahoma. Lori's brother, Randy Landgraf, of McMinnville, preceded his grandpa in death at the age of 42 on September 8, 2005. Frank also has two great grandchildren, Traci Martin (Evan) and Blake Wright (Gena) living in Oklahoma.
Frank had a strong faith in his Lord and a servant's heart. He loved people and was loved by all who knew him!
